Reflections

OK. So I have just updated my reflections. I find this reflection a little bit difficult to write as we have not been updating on reflections for the past one month. I find this project meaningful as I finally have "something" to do. I also enjoyed my part in the project.

Reflection after the Survey.

Doing the survey with the public was relatively easy and fun, although some discomfort after being rejected by some of the audience to do the survey. The fun thing of the survey is that one can see the different reactions to the survey questions from a larger scale of audience than a smaller scale of audience. In total, my group have collect approximately 120 surveys from the public. We went to a place that is quiet, and most of the people there are not busy or in a hurry rather than those on the streets, the library. We went to 2 libraries in total, just to increase the number of people. All in all, its fun doing survey with the public.

Tasks to-do for Term 2 Week 3 (08/04/2010)

Dear Group 3,

I still have not seen your analysed data worksheet for the survey. Please post it on the blog. The other group has done it.

Tasks to-do for this lesson (stay in class):

1. Discuss and assign tasks to individual members. (basically to do research on the information you need for your topic) Group leader, please facilitate and set a deadline for everyone.

  • you can look into what are some of the research done on global warming about the melting of ice caps and how it affects the land at low sea levels.
  • research on more information about global warming, eg. what are the causes and effects, the greenhouse gases, etc.
  • brainstorm where else you can get more data on your topic so that it is convincing to the public.
  • has any scientists proposed the number of years it will take to flood the land on earrth?
  • how you want to present your final oral presentation and report.

2. Discuss and think about the final product (eg. presentation, posters, booklets, etc.) that you want to produce for your topic.

At the end of your discussion, each individual member is to post on the blog by this lesson a short write up on the tasks you are assigned to do and how are you going to carry out the tasks.

Each member, please do your research over this weekend and I will check on your individual progress next lesson.

Reminder: Tasks to-do during March Holidays

Dear Group 3,

Please remember to write your individual reflections for Lesson 4& 5 and Lesson 6 if you have not done so. Refer back to my previous posts or worksheets if you are not sure.

Below is a reminder of the tasks to-do during the March Holidays:

1. Please email me the draft of the survey form for me to edit before you proceed to conduct the survey. Then, do a print screen of the final survey form and post it on your blog.

2. Photocopy hard copies of the survey form (20 copies for each member) and conduct the survey with your friends, relatives and the public. File all the survey forms into your GRACE file for record purposes.

3. During your own meeting, collate the results of the survey findings from each member using the worksheet I've prepared. I will email you the worksheet to help you in collating the survey results. Work together to create a short presentation (using power point slides) of your survey findings. Remember to add in some pictures or photos to liven up your slides. You may also want to attach one sample of a completed survey form to your slides.

4. Do a short individual reflection for Lesson 7 after conducting the survey and post it on your blog. Reflect on your experience in conducting the survey.

Fang Wei, the group leader, please help to facilitate the above tasks and make sure they are done before school reopens.

Take note:
Please email me (jeslynlim@yahoo.com.sg) a soft copy of the collated survey results and your presentation slides before your presentation in Term 2 week 1.

Have fun conducting your surveys!

Lesson 2 Reflections

i seriously do not remember much about that lesson but i do remember that we were not progressing much because we were not sure of what to do. We did not do most of our work so we were behind time.

lesson 4/5 reflections

Guiding questions

Worksheet 5(Project Planner A)

Lesson 4&5 Reflections

We have done the survey questions. It was quite difficult to do as our project was a bit different from surveys that we take like food and service surveys. So the next the next time we do other people's survey, we should give honest feedback and not give random answers

Reflection for Lesson 4 & 5

We have collated the questions for the survey and we intend to create the survey to survey about 100 people(25 people per group member) just to ask our relatives and friends on their opinion on our findings. We have learnt that making surveys are difficult. And whenever we do surveys , we find it troublesome. Thus , we should be more understanding and complete their surveys.

Reflection for Lesson 3

I think the scientific knowledge about global warming is more realistic rather than just thinking when the world gets flooded.

Reflection for lesson 2

The topic we discussed was a bit unrealistic as we are not any scientist and cant predict the future.

Lesson 3 Reflections

We have finalised the topic of our project and we are starting to research on it. We need to know the volume of the ice in the world, which country gets flooded first and when does the world will be flooded.

Lesson 2 Reflections

We have decided on what to do. The topic is "In how many years time will the water at the whole of north and south pole will melt completely and flood the lands on earth completely if the global warming continues?"

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Lesson 1 Reflections

We started the blog and gave roles to each member of the group. We got a file for each member. We also filled up the cover page.

Reflection for lesson 1

We created a blog as it is required for our project, better communications and can post our views on it.

Reflection for Lesson 3

We had decided on the topic as: 'In how many years time will the water at the whole of north and south pole will melt completely and flood the lands on earth completely if the global warming continues?' We will start by calculating the north and south pole's volume of water that it contains. That will let us know how much water will be released when the whole of north and south pole's melt into water and how much the sea level will rise.

Reflection for Lesson 2

We had came up with a topic that we are considering as the one that we are going to work on for this project. I feel that we are progressing on a steady tempo. We had also elected a group leader.

Reflection for Lesson 1

I feel that we are making some progress as we have decided on the group's name and motto.

Reflections for Lesson 1

I think the progress is still not much and we haven't done much. I feel that we must work harder and put even more effort in this.
